Roger Worthington has donated over $1,020,000 to the
Pacific Heart, Lung, &
Blood Institute (PHLBI) and has been instrumental in opening a research
laboratory dedicated to his father. The
David "Punch"
Worthington Research Laboratory opened at The David Geffen School of
Medicine at UCLA in 2005. He did so to honor his father who, after a valiant
five year fight, succumbed to asbestos lung cancer in 2006. Through the PWR Lab,
Roger Worthington also honors other patients with asbestos related cancer by
funding research to not only expand existing treatment options, but also to
target and prevent future asbestos cancer patients.
Roger G. Worthington, P.C. has helped hundreds of patients find
the best and brightest
doctors,
coast to coast. Yet, mesothelioma research continues to be under-funded. That is
why in 1999, Roger G. Worthington founded the Mesothelioma Applied Research
Foundation (MARF) to fund therapy-oriented research. MARF was the first
non-profit organization to address patient and family needs for medical
information. While other lawyers pay lip service to compassion, the Law Offices
of Roger G. Worthington, P.C. leads the fight to find a cure. Even after
exceeding donations of
$2.7 million, Roger Worthington continues to drive cancer research.
If you have been exposed to asbestos you may be at risk for developing
mesothelioma,
a cancer that affects mesothelial cells which line the lungs, abdomen, or heart.
The only known cause of mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos. Typically,
mesothelioma develops approximately 20-60 years after the initial asbestos
exposure and affects about 3,000 people each year in the United States. Before
1980 over 27 million Americans were heavily exposed to asbestos, including
workers in the construction trade industry, naval and shipbuilding trades, and
those exposed through products at home or at their offices where asbestos may
have been used to insulate buildings.
These victims were often exposed by companies who knew that asbestos kills.
Instead of using asbestos substitutes or warning and protecting workers,
companies have covered up or distorted the truth. Tragically, asbestos companies
poisoned millions of
Americans because asbestos was slightly cheaper than its substitutes. Roger G.
Worthington, P.C. goes for the gold and gives something back. We update our
website DAILY with current news and medical information. Our website is widely
regarded by asbestos lawyers as "the best" website for up-to-date medical
information.

Asbestos Update, founded in 1996, is the original website
dedicated to informing mesothelioma patients and their families of their
medical treatment options and the only website that actively promotes and
funds research for a cure.
